ITER (“The Way” in Latin), is one of the most ambitious energy projects in the world.

It is located in Europe, in the South of France and it sums 35  countries. Working together for the construction of the biggest device of the world, their goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion energy as carbon-free energy source on a large scale based on the same principle that powers our Sun and stars.

This experimental project is crucial to advancing fusion science and it will give the opportunity to test at such scale, integrated technologies, materials, and physics required for the commercial production of fusion-based energy.

Collaborators

ITER is a project consisting of 35 countries, with the support of China, the European Union, Japan, South Korea Russia and the United States of America. Around 50 Spanish companies are involved in the production of the European components and part of the nine vacuum chamber’s sectors, together with the 54 reactor’s port assembly.

The project we are currently working on is specially related to the series-manufacturing of the First Wall Panels, designed to support the heat of the plasma. This Project will be executed by Fusion Business Leadership in Cantabria, Spain, for Fusion For Energy (F4E), the European organisation that manages Europe’s contribution to ITER. Its mission is to deliver fusion—, the energy of the Sun and the stars to Earth. F4E collaborates with companies and research centres to provide the necessary infrastructure and components for the biggest fusion device called tokamak.

XIOS G reception

ZAYER has recently completed the reception of seven machines for FBL and there so, for F4E, it will be exclusively dedicated to the manufacturing of these components for the tokamak. Among them, we highlight the XIOS G machine model whose main feature is its machining versatility, since it contains a rotary table combined with a 360.000 positions head, offering great adaptability and remote access for complex and diverse pieces.

We are really proud of having the components of such prestigious project manufactured by ZAYER machines!
